Following a SIAMS inspection just before half term ( 2015), Orton C of E School has received the inspector’s report and confirmation of an inspection grade of Outstanding.
SIAMS stands for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools and it focuses on the distinctiveness and effectiveness of Orton as a Church of England school.
Key things that were noted in the inspector’s report were:
Children have an excellent understanding of the school’s distinctive Christian values which make an impact on their relationships with other people. As a result they are caring individuals who are always prepared to respond to the needs of others.
There is a very strong partnership with the church and local community which results in a mutual dependency and shared understanding of each other’s place in the community.
The collaborative nature of leadership and management in the school ensures that every part of the school community is involved in decision-making and feels valued.
Spiritual development is excellent as a result of the opportunities provided for reflection, not only during collective worship but also in other parts of the school day.
The inspector also commented on: “The excellent partnership between school, church and local community, which results in many successful joint events and care for each other. Examples include fundraising such as for ‘Wear it Pink’ day and school church services.”
The staff and governors of the school would like to thank everyone involved in the local churches, parents and carers and the wider community for their invaluable contributions to the life of the school which have, in turn, contributed to this really good news and inspection report.
